Mathieu Odin

Pyrenees photographer — landscapes, portraits, adventures

Professional photographer, with more than ten years of experience as an art director. My background in design and creative direction deeply shapes the way I photograph: I approach every project with care, precision and sensitivity. Photography is not a hobby, it is my work.

After several years of nomadic life, I settled in the Pyrenees and kept that same appetite for open spaces, quiet details and honest stories. Outdoor reports, portraits, business photography, weddings: I bring the same attention to people, places, light and emotion.

Based in the Pyrenees, I travel across France for mountain, climbing, family and business photography projects. If you are looking for a sincere and committed approach, let us talk.

A natural aesthetic

Natural, please. No makeup that changes who you are, no stretched white sheets under studio lights, no over-retouched faces or images. Natural.

But natural images are still crafted. They are studied. Cameras are only cameras, and even the best sensor will never reproduce every color our eyes perceive.

That is where a photographer’s interpretation of the raw image matters. We have to find what matters inside the frame and express it. We add a point of view and a vision without distorting the subject or making it feel false.

Was it darker or softer? More alive, more distant, more nostalgic? More colorful? Less contrasted? What did it make me feel, and how can I bring that feeling out?

Artists I admire, like @PeterMcKinnon, @Jonnyroams, @ForrestMankins, @josselin, @odieuxboby and the incredible @film_god, do this beautifully.

Beauty, everywhere.

This search for natural beauty is not only about the way an image is edited. It starts much earlier, in the way we perceive people, objects and the scenes forming around us.

You have to observe carefully, and be able to see just a little further than everyone else.

Look for what is unsaid: facial expressions, visual lines, light. Understand how colors work together to create the feeling that something is beautiful. Compose these scenes in your head, refocus your gaze and think about intention.
